One of ACTION’s focusses is on inclusion in citizen science. We are working with our pilot projects through regular calls to understand how we can reach often neglected groups. Building on work we began in the kick-off meeting at FVB-IGB in Berlin, in February this year, we have had a series of exchanges and calls exploring how diversity and inclusion strategies are implemented in our projects.
Our call this week focussed on discussing some of the the Diversity Guidelines developed by Worcester Polytechnic Students who worked with the FVB-IGB team for 7 weeks this spring. We reflected on how the structure of our projects have been changed to address not only the inclusion of new or different stakeholders, but to also do so in the challenging times of a pandemic.
