OpenLitterMap empowers everyone with the tools to become an Open Citizen Scientist. By joining OpenLitterMap citizens can create a world with less plastic and toxic chemicals that risk to contaminate various plants and animals.
By 2025, the amount of plastic entering the ocean is expected to increase to 70 million tonnes assuming current trends continue.
Anyone can join and start mapping plastic pollution by geolocating it on a map and taking photos to report the situation. Data can be downloaded for free and can be used for any purpose, without permission.
