Our Team

The ACTION project brought together ten partners from six European countries (Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain and the UK). They represented universities, research institutes, research-led SMEs and one not-for-profit organisation.
Together, these partners cover the wide range of interdisciplinary skills and competencies (surrounding pollution, citizen science, participatory design, social innovation, socio-economic studies, open science, social computing, open data and software development) required to effectively co-design, implement and manage citizen science initiatives alongside methodologies, tools and guidance to support and enhance this process.

King’s College London joins ACTION as coordinator

From its inception, the ACTION project has been coordinated by Professor Elena Simperl from the University of Southampton and her team. As of February 2020, Professor Simperl has moved to King’s College London – and so has the ACTION project, including the entire team from Southampton, consisting of postdoctoral researchers Neal Reeves, Eddy Maddalena, and Gefion Thuermer. With the whole team relocated, work on the project continues without interruption.
