Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

UPM is the largest Spanish technological university, with two recognitions as Campus of International Excellence.
The intense collaboration with government bodies and industry guarantees that research at the UPM offers real solutions to real-world problems. More than 2,400 researchers carry out their activity at the UPM, grouped in 216 Research Groups, 10 Research Centres and 55 Laboratories, all of which committed to transforming the knowledge generated into advances applied to the production sector.
The Ontology Engineering Group (OEG) is involved in the ACTION project. It has been working on the provision of semantic infrastructure since 1995. OEG is composed of 30 researchers with a consolidated reputation in the fields of: ontological engineering, data integration, linked data and semantic web, natural language processing and semantics in Open Science. In the area of semantics in Open Science, the OEG led the STARS4ALL project, which incubated more than 30 light pollution initiatives (working groups focused on generating awareness about light pollution) and is publishing open data from the measurements made by hundreds of photometers worldwide.
OEG has also been responsible for setting up research data portals for several institutions.
