Dutch Research Institute For Transitions

The Dutch Research Institute For Transitions (DRIFT) at the Erasmus University Rotterdam is a leading institute in the field of Sustainability Transitions, Transition Governance and Transformative Research.
DRIFT combines cutting edge research on sustainability transitions with high-level consultancy and training programs for governmental institutions, businesses and intermediary organisations. In so doing, it combines two interrelated objectives. First, advancing transition theory: Transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research enables Drift to develop new insights into complex societal system dynamics and how sustainability transitions can be explained, initiated and governed. Second, Drift aims to influence transitions towards more sustainable pathways and accelerate the pace of change. It pursues this objective in close collaboration with a number of transformative agents across society through novel science-society arrangements.
